Research on an Arithmetic Unit for the Digital Computers using the Negabinary Radix

負二進法을 利用한 電子計算機의 演算裝置에 關한 硏究

Abstract

The paper deals with a negative base number system which has the polarity with numbers and the arithmetic algorithms of the system. A negabinary arithmetic apparatus is designed and constructed by using MSI logic circuits. The system is clocked by a 1 MHz crystal controlled oscillator and other pulses are formed from it. Arithmetic operations are performed, displayed and observed on an oscilloscope. The experimental results show a good agreement with theories. It is considered that a further study is necessary in the arithmetic division circuits.

現在 대부분의 電子計算機에서는 二進數組織(binary number system)이나 二進화 十進數組織(positive base number system)에서는 한 數를 符號 및 크기로 表現하고, 이런 符號를 가진 數字는 演算回路의 設計에서 많은 數自體에 內包되 어 있으므로 演算裝置에서는 각 숫자들이 가지고 있는 符號와는 무관하게 計算이 수행된다. 따라서 演算裝置의 論理回路가 간단해지고 演算信賴度가 增加하게 된다.
