Abstract

In order to investigate the drapability of wool fabrics some mechanical properties such as bending, shearing, buckling characteristics were measured and the experimental results were analysed statistically to relate the drape coefficient and node number with those mechanical properties. From the analysis, the following results were obtained. 1) The shadow area of M-drape of wedge-shaped specimen (Ad$_2$)is relate to bending length (x$_1$) as follow: Ad$_2$=101.7030+27.2308x$_1$ 2) The difference (Ads) between the shadow area of T-drape (Ad$_1$) and M-drape is related to bending rigidity (x$_2$), shear initial stiffness (x$_3$) and buckling initial rigidity (x$_4$) as follow: ads=102.2500+139.6680x$_2$+33.5464x$_3$+0.8072x$_4$ 3) The regression equation of drape coefficient (Y) can be represented by: Y=0.2033+0.0717x$_1$+0.3675x$_2$+0.0883x$_3$+0.0021x$_4$ 4) The regression equation of node number (N) can be represented by: $N_2$=0.0002-0.7510x$_1$-0.4277x$_2$-0.2285x$_3$-0.2782x$_4$
