Studies on the Modification of Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (I) -Reaction of Chloromethylated Copolyester with Trimethylamine-

폴리에틸렌 테레프탈레이트의 개질에 관한 연구(I) -Chloromethylated Copolyester의 Trimethylamine과의 반응-

Abstract

Poly(ethylene terphthalate-oxybenzoate) (copolyester OBA) was chloromethylated and aminated with trimethylamine stepwise in order to impart an affinity of polyester to acid dye. The melting point of the copolyester OBA was decreased while the crystallization temperature was increased with the increace in mole percentage of the comonomer, methyl p-hydroxy-benzoate in the feed. It was found that the copolyester OBA was successfully chloromethylated with chloromethyl ether in the presence of zinc chloride. The degree of chloromethylation was increased with the mole percentage of the comonomer. The chlorine content was increased with reaction time of up to 4 hrs at temperatures higher than 40$^{\circ}C$, while the chlorine content was increased continuously at 25$^{\circ}C$. The moisture regain of the copolyester OBA aminated with trimethylamine was significantly increased and the dyeability of acid dye (Acid Orange II) to the copolyester was conspicuously improved in proportion to the mole percentage of the comonomer.

p-oxybenzoate 구조를 포함하는 copolyester를 chloromethylation하고 trimethylamine으로 염기성화시켜 산성염료에 대한 친화력을 검토하였다. 개질제 methyl-p-hydroxybenzoate의 몰%가 증가할수록 copolyester의 융점은 감소하고 결정화 온도는 증가하였다. oxybenzoate 구조를 갖는 copolyester는 염화 아연을 촉매로 하였을 때 chloromethyl ether에 의하여 효율적으로 chloromethylation이 진행되었다. 개질제의 몰%가 증가 할수록 chloromethylation이 잘 일어났으며 4$0^{\circ}C$이상의 반응온도에서 4시간까지는 염소함량이 증가한후 감소하였고 $25^{\circ}C$에서는 실험범위 내의 시간동안 계속 증가하였다. trimethylamine과 반응시킨 copolyester는 흡습성 및 산성염료 Acid Orange II에 대한 염색성은 개질제의 몰%에 비례하여 향상되었다.
