A Study on the Value, $M_0$ of the Laid-yarn in the $1\times1$ Laying-in Plain Knitted Fabric with Shrinkage State

Abstract

An experimental study was carried out on bending properties of 1 $\times$1 laying-in plain knitted fabric for bending in two principal directions. The mechanism of bending in knitted fabrics was found to be relatively complex from a geometrical point of view. Several parameters were required to specify completely the hysteresis behaviour of fabric in bending states. The variation of these parameters with the tightness factor of fabric was noted and the effect of laid-yarn was studied. In this Paper a method for measuring the value M0 of 1 $\times$1 laying-in Plain knitted fabric was presented. The relationship of frictional bending rigidity in knitted fabric between its property of laid-yarn in helix state was discussed. As a result in this paper, as the shrinkage in the knitted fabric proceeds to increase the helix angle of laid-yarn and the STF was increased, increasing value M0.
