Abstract

Polyesteramide (PEA) was prepared by the polymerigation of hexamethylenediamine(HMD) with oligomer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which was prepared by the reaction of terephthalic acid(TPA) with ethylene glycol (EG) using bis-hydroxyethyl terephthalate (BHET) as a medium, spun into filament, and dyed with a disperse dyes. The results are summarized as follows; 1. The molecular weight, melt viscosity and melting point of PEA polymers were decreaseb with increasing HMD content of PEA Polymers, while the dye adsorption was increased. 2. The whiteness (%) of PEA polymers was decreased and the chroma value of color increased with increasing HMD content of PEA polymers. 3. When the filaments are drawn, the presence of void has been observed and these seem to have more voids than in the case of ordinary polyester (PET) filaments. 4. From the whiteness, spinability and dyeability points of view, PEA polymer containing HMD of 0.05 mole fraction seems to be better than any other one.
