Abstract

The reaction of Hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene with sodium metallated cotton fiber in monochlorobenzene (MCB) and dioxane medium was studied under various experimental conditions. The reaction rates gradually increased with the molar ratio of (PNC12)3 to sodium cellulosate and the reaction time both in MCB and in dioxane. A stronger effect was recognized in MCB than that in dioxane. A kinetic study revealed that the reaction of sodium cellulosate with (PNC12)3 is of second order and the activation energies are about 0.60Kcal/mole in MCB and 8.01 Kcal/mole in dioxane respectively.
