초록

Tensile properties of spun yarn can be evaluated from lea strength and single end strength. In this paper, lea strength and single end strength with varying yarn counts and twists were measured experimentally and also relationships between lea strength and single end strength were investigated in various yarns. In the given TM (twist multiplier) 3.2-4.8, maximum strength and minimum strength CV% were found to occur at the level of TM 4.0-4.4 in CD (carded yarn) 20's, CD3O's and at a point of TM 4.0 in CM (combed yarn) 40's ring-spun cotton yarn. Regression coefficient increased as the count of ringspun cotton yarn became higher (fewer fibres per cross section) and increased as the level of TM in this yarn became higher or lower than optimum TM, which could be explained by the fact that single end strength variation became higher as TM deviated from the optimum value. In the Open-End yarn, strength CV% and regression coefficient decreased as the yarn became finer.
