Abstract

Radiation-induced polymerization of ZnCl₂-acrylonitrile complex in bulk and in non-polar benzene solution were carried out. Higher rate of polymerization of 1:1 type complex than that of 1:2 type complex was observed and this was explained in terms of complex configuration, i.e., higher rate of intercomplex propagation in 1:1 type complex in which both the mode of intra and intercomplex propagation coexists. A normal positive value of activation energy was observed in bulk and solution polymerization which is remarkable difference with author's previous results, obtained from the ZnCl₂-acrylonitvile-H₂O system.
