Effect of Filler on the Drawability and Molecular Orientation of Drawn Polypropylene Filled with Metallic Glass Particles

Abstract

The effect of filler on the draw ratios and chain molecular orientation of anisotropic polypropylene/Pb-glass particles composite material prepared by uniaxial drawing were measured. And the draw ratio of polymer matrix in drawn composite system was calculated by the simple model. From the calculated value, the amount of bound polymer can be found. Thus, it is concluded that decrease of average chain molecular orientation is partly due to the bound polymer which is formed around the filler surface and partly due to the hindrance effect of filler particles on the molecular orientation.
