Abstract

In order to investigate the phenomena of the color difference caused by tin-weighting treatment, the variation of lightness and chromaticity of the weighted and blank weighted silk fabric having been dyed with acid dyestuffs were studied. The former was investigated by use of the equation which was derived from the Godlove's expermental results regarding determination of the strength of dyeings, the latter by means of conjunctive or complementary conjuncive wavelength determined graphically from chromaticity diagram. The results are as follows: 1. The increase of the lightness is mainly dependent on the bleeding of the dyed fabric into the tin-weighting solution. The deposition of metal complex is little effect on the increase of lightness, or the lightness is more or less decreased by the silicating treatment. 2. The difference of chromaticity of dyed fabric is mainly caused by the bleeding of the dye of the dyed fabric into the tin-weighting solution. A little effect of the deposited metal complex on the difference of chromaticity is supposed. 3. In case of the tin-weighting of the dyed fabric, it is very important how to select the dyestuffs. Color alteration is decreased by the selection of the acid and alkaline fast acid dyestuffs as far as tin-weighting treatment is concerned.
