Standard Time Study in Apparel Manufacturing

Nowadays, statistical analysis by "time and motion study" is applied to improve the productivity in apparel manufacturing mills in our country. The object of this study was improvement of manufacturing efficiency with aid of work study in the braslip manufacturing industry in which they produce braslip from nylon tricot and spandex with 29 labors. The author checked the cycle time and idle time from labor's motion. The data necessary for productivity and wages level were calculated from the standard time, performance rating, and allowance rating. From the data, it was found that: 1. The productivity was improved up to 26% by standardizing the work position using average standard time. 2. The range of wages performance rating was shown 2.0∼8.3 and it means wages level of labors were made on no consideration of performance rating of labors.
