역자 주. 이 논문은 Jesse H. Shera박사가 Of librarianship, Documentation and information science 란 표제로 Unesco Bulletin for Libraries, vol. 22(March-April 1968), p.58~65에 기고한 것을 Unesco와 필자의 번역 허가를 얻어 우리말로 옮긴 것이다. Dr. Shera는 미국 오하이오주 클리브렌드시에 있는 케이스 웨스턴 리저어브 대학교도서관학대학원장 겸 동대학원 부설 다큐멘테이션 및 커뮤니케이션 연구소장으로 재직 중에 있다.
