Abstract

The diffusion of simple acid dye Orange II into the chlorinated (sodium dichloroisocyanurate treated) wool from an infinite dye bath has been studied at 60°, 70°, 80°, and 87℃. Hill's equation was used for calculating the diffusion coefficient. Usually, the apparent diffusion coefficient of Orange II in the chlorinated wool was larger than in the ordinary wool, e.g. at pH 3.2, 80℃, 9 ×10-11cm2/sec for chlorinated wool and 6 ×10-11cm2/sec for ordinary wool. At pH 3.2, the apparent activation energy of diffusion in a temperature range from 60℃ to 87℃ was about 20, 30 kcal/mole respectively. (Received Oct. 15, 1971)
