Abstract

In order to get a formula representing the crimp of warps in cloth, a gemoetric-mechanical shrinkage model was set up having the assumption that the longitudinal change produced by the increasing of tension was proportionate to the diametric change due to pressure of interlacing. Figuring on the model was as the following; C1=41454x10-1 It was found by the criticism of the above formula that the amount of shrinkage of warps depended mainly on the texture of cloth, meanwhile the amount of tension applied to warps didn't effect very much on the contraction of warps. It was also confirmed that the calculated value of the above formula apprached to the experimental result under restriction of low tension and low picks per inch having the range of 75∼100 lbs of tension and 9.81∼11.0 of cover factor in weaving plain square cotton fabric.
