Abstract

The effect of thermosetting resins on the light fastness and shade change on reactive dyes was studied, Results of the study show that: 1. There is no correlation between the change of shade and change of light fastness as a result of resin treatment. 2. The effects of two graups of resin, dimethylo1 N triazone and urea-formaldehyde, on change of shade varied some what, they occurred some color difference. 3. The effect of the resin on light fading depends on the characteristics of resin used and molecular structure of dyes. generally, dimcthylol-N-triazone decreased the light fastness but urea formaldehyde some what increased. 4. The physical states of dyes in the fiber have a considerable affects on the light fastness. 5. The dyes have an initial rapid first order fading, and after, fade very slowly and at a more or less constant rate, resembling in fact more ordinary dyes.
