본 연구는 메타모르포제(metamorphose)에 대한 형태적 특징을 분석하여 디자인교육에서의 활용도를 제시하고자 한다. 메타모르포제는 곤충의 생장 과정에서 한 형태가 어느 특정한 시기에 전혀 새로운 형태로 탈바꿈되는 '변태'의 현상을 말한다. 메타모르포제[Metamorphose]는 동물이나 식물 등의 생장 과정에서, 어떤 시기에 그 형태가 다른 성체로 변하는 현상을 나타내는 말로 시작된다. 하지만 이 용어는 A라는 형태가 B라는 다른 형태로 변화되는 점을 포함하기도 한다. 메타모르포제의 형태 변형에 대한 특성을 분석하여 형태의 이미지를 연구한다. 아울러 자체 형태 및 layout에서 오는 영상적 이미지 구축으로 시각적 인지도를 높이고 일상 디자인의 근간을 이룬다는 점으로 연구 대상이 된다.
