A study on the analysis of derailment accidents in Korea

According to ' Monthly report of train accidents and incidents ' of KNR 184 numbers of derailment accidents/incidents had happened during last five years(from 1999 to 2003). Among them, there have happened only four injured accidents such as West Daejeon derailment accident, Jungang line, Pyegje station, and Daejeon station one. But it is necessary to consider a countermeasure for derailment, as its accident/incident have big risk which might produce a large scale damage and lots of injured persons. This paper analyzes the derailment accidents/incidents which have happened for last five years in KNR, and suggests their countermeasures.
