Abstract
Segmented polyurethanes have been widely used for various commercial and experimental blood-contacting and tissue-contacting applications such as vascular prostheses, blood pumps, heart valves, pacemaker lead wire insulation, catheters, artificial hearts, and cardiac assist devices due to their generally favorable physical and mechanical properties, as well as fairly good biocompatibility and antithrombogenicity characteristics.
